Where It Sits

A Bigger, Slower Lunch Inside the Green Part of Kevadia

The Tribal Thali is served at Ekta Tribal Café, which sits within the Ekta Nursery grounds, close to the Shoolpaneshwar Temple and Tyagi Ghat on the Narmada, in the Gora area of the Statue of Unity complex. Where the café's other option is a single fixed plate, this one draws on tribal-style cooking rather than a generic multi-cuisine menu, and suits a group that wants to sit and eat properly rather than rush between sightseeing stops.

Before You Go

Booking Notes Worth Knowing

A few practical rules keep the kitchen running smoothly across only three seatings a day — worth reading before you plan your visit around this thali.

Book Before 10 AM, Same Day

Seatings must be reserved on WhatsApp before 10 AM on the day you intend to eat. The kitchen prepares quantities against confirmed headcounts, so requests after that cut-off can't always be fit in.

No Sharing, No Outside Food

Each diner needs their own thali — sharing one plate between guests isn't permitted. Outside food also isn't allowed inside the café; order what you plan to eat.

No Same-Day Cancellation

Once a seating is confirmed for the day, it can't be cancelled same-day. Double-check your headcount and timing before you send the booking through.

Fully Booked? Expect ~30 Min

If all three seatings are taken when you arrive without a reservation, you may wait around 30 minutes for a slot to clear — it isn't guaranteed, which is exactly why booking ahead helps.

Tribal Thali FAQ

The Tribal Thali (₹350) is a larger, unlimited-refill spread built around tribal-style cooking — hibiscus tea to start, Makai Muthiya and Methi Gota starters, seasonal vegetable curry, tuver and udad dal, red and white rice, drumstick-leaf roti, makai/bajra thepla, and Churma Laddu with dahi, buttermilk, ghee, jaggery, pickle, chutneys and nagli papad. You can ask for seconds on the mains as you eat.

The café runs three seatings a day, Tuesday to Sunday: 12:15 PM, 1:15 PM and 2:15 PM, with 2:15 PM being the last seating. It is closed on Mondays. Walk-ins are possible if a seating still has room, but since each slot is limited, we'd always recommend booking your seating ahead on WhatsApp rather than turning up and hoping.

Message us on WhatsApp with your preferred date, seating time and how many Tribal Thalis you want. Bookings need to be confirmed before 10 AM on the same day you plan to eat — the kitchen plans quantities around confirmed numbers, so later requests can't always be accommodated.

No to both. Sharing food between guests isn't permitted — each diner needs their own thali — and outside food isn't allowed inside the café. If someone in your group would prefer a smaller fixed meal instead, the Ekta Thali is served at the same seatings.

If all three seatings are full when you arrive, expect a wait of roughly 30 minutes for the next available slot to clear — it isn't guaranteed. Same-day cancellations aren't possible once a seating is confirmed, so it's worth being reasonably sure of your numbers before you book.

Yes. The Tribal Thali is fully vegetarian — hibiscus tea, Makai Muthiya and Methi Gota starters, a seasonal vegetable curry, dal, rice, roti/thepla and Churma Laddu, with dahi, buttermilk, ghee, jaggery, pickle and chutneys. Nothing on the menu contains meat, fish or egg.
